Erin Martin,
Board Member and Athlete Rep
Erin Martin is an athlete representative on the board of the Midwest Adaptive Nordic Foundation. Erin, a para cross country skier and para biathlete, has been competing since January 2020. She had the honor of representing Team USA in the Beijing 2022 Paralympics and continues to compete in national and international para nordic competitions. Para Nordic skiing has been a critical part of Erin’s recovery after her spinal cord injury. In particular, the freedom of exploring new trails, the personal growth from competition, and camaraderie from spending time with other disabled athletes have had the most impact. In addition to competing, Erin has also worked to develop para nordic in the Pacific Northwest through improved access to local cross country ski trails and para nordic ski camps.
Erin has a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from Seattle University and works as a nurse at Seattle Children’s Hospital. Last year, she received her mountain bike instructor certification and also works as an instructor for Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance.
She is passionate about connecting with other disabled athletes and supporting the growth of adaptive outdoor sports. Para nordic has been a major positive influence in her life, and she hopes to give others the opportunity to experience all the sport has to offer.
